Is Multi level Marketing Sponsoring Easy?

One question often asked about Internet Network Marketing is “Do I have to know and sponsor a lot of people to be successful?”

The frequent answer from most upline sponsors goes something like the following…

“No, if you sponsor just one person every month or so, you can become very successful in Multi Level Marketing, and develop a great residual income.

These people don’t have to be people you already know.  Think about how many people you meet everyday in your normal day to day activities!

Try this: sit down with a pen and a sheet of paper and create a list of the names of EVERYONE you know, have known, have done business with, etc.  You will be astounded by how many people you are able to put on your list.

But the question is, will all these people really join your Multi Level Marketing business if you ask them to?  Most probably not.  However, statistics show that if only one out of every one hundred contacts you make joins your program under you, it will be enough to make your car payment, another one will make your house payment, and one more will retire you!

Three out of every one hundred people you contact is certainly achievable but you have to actually go out and contact the one hundred people.  Some of them will not be interested themselves, but they mightknow someone who might be and they refer that person to you.  This referral process expands your list.

However, there is one flaw in this whole process and that is that you have to be willing to be rejected by 97 people.  That is a lot of rejection and most people will not last that long.  And initially these are people you at least know, so the rejection is even more difficult to accept.

How many masochist do you know who are willing to knowingly go out and face one hundred people and get turned down by ninety seven of them and just keep on going trying to sell or recruit to an unwilling market?

Technically, the answer above from the upline sponsor can be correct if you are fortunate enough to recruit someone that has all the requisite skills and goes on to become a “heavy hitter” in the company.  And depending upon your company’s compensation plan, that person might be able to carry you along.

However, the chances of you landing a “heavy hitter” who goes out and creates a large downline beneith you when you only sponsor “one person every month or two,” is extremely unlikely.

So what can you do if you don’t want to face massive rejection and you are not going to be fortunate enough to sponsor a “heavy hitter” early on in your MLM career?

Instead of seeking out all your friends and family members and quickly becoming a member of the NFL (No Friends Left) club, or bugging everyone within 30 feet of you as suggested by some sponsors, you need to narrow down your target market.  Everyone is not your target market.  Your target market is made up of people who are already looking to start a home business, to earn extra money on a part-time basis, are looking for a MLM company to join or are already a member of some other Network Marketing program.  You can even further narrow down your niche to only the latter group if you desire.  Then encourage them to come to you and get them to join your company by employing a soft sell technique instead of the hard sell methods pushed by many Network Marketing sponsors.

“OK, so just how do I go about doing that?”, you ask.

Well first you need to get their attention and interest by offering them something such as a free report or preferably a funded proposal that is relevant to your market and getting them on your mailing or contact list.  Then, once they are on your list, you develop a relationship with them by providing them frequent free useful information relative to your product, company, the MLM industry, salesmanship, or marketing, etc.  In their eyes you will quickly become an authority figure.

If your market has been correctly identified, you will soon find that prospects will contact you seeking guidance and asking how to become a member of your program.
